Chevrolet was the first domestic pickup manufacturer to introduce a compact pickup when it added the new S-10 pickups in 1982.
Chevrolet's other interesting new offering in 1982 was the new 6.2-liter diesel V-8. It was no longer limited to C-10 pickups but was available on all pickups. A host of under-the-skin improvements took place in 1990. The 7.4-liter V8 was fitted with electronic spark control,
and the 5.7-liter V8 received upgraded piston rings and intake valves. Antilock rear brakes debuted this year. Many formerly individual Chevrolet options were now either added as standard equipment or grouped together in packages.A host of under-the-skin improvements took place in 1990.
